Hello Sean,

If you really do not want to pay for a windows licence it is possible but it may involve contacting someone directly.
Last week we got a new laptop with freedos as they need to sell a computer with an os to comply with their agreements with microsoft.
It involved a bit of talking with sales staff at dell and making it clear that you knew what you where doing and you had a licence for another os. 
It was my boss that did it and he said he saved $175 off the website price so you can get a good deal if you are willing to put in some time. We got it without an os as we already had some vista licences with the microsoft partners program so it would be a waste to get more licences.
