Ubuntu Netbook Remix and Maximus

It's not easy, but you can set this up in gconf-editor.
Run 'gconf-editor /apps/maximus' and change the value of
'exclude_class' to include the window class of whatever you want to
ignore.
To find out the class run 'xwininfo' and then click on the window in
question - it will return with a line  (among others) such as:
xwininfo: Window id: 0x4400005 "VLC media player"

In this case 'VLC media player' is probably the class you want
