Launcpad as a developer.

For those of you who are developers, I would like to know you experiences joining
Launchpad and then joining a team of developers.
 
After viewing 1,000 projects from 7,900+ available I still don't know what one I should join.
Maybe an Australian team? I like to work in C/C++.
