There's strength in numbers. If you haven't already, get in touch with the
FOSS community in Canberra. I know for a fact that there are some great
people over there. Start by joining the mailing lists for CLUG[0], and then
attending meetings. Get to know people, make friends, then float your ideas
and try to build support around them.
Linux Australia[1] is also a good forum for discussing such things, so I'd be
joining their lists as well.
