Dear Lisa and all fellow Australian Ubuntu Users,
Thank you, Lisa. After all that fussing about ... the solution (as you told
me) was actually quite painless. It worked just as you explained, except
that I did not need to enter my password.
I'm a reformed ex-M$ Windows user of many years... I finally got p*ssed off
at M$ Windows running too slowly (on my previous computer) & also running
all of the anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam and firewall software (and
when it was working correctly, my poor little computer had lots of programs
to load at startup of Windows). I love the fact that most (or all?) of the
software for Ubuntu is free... it certainly contrasts with the M$ Windows
world, where seems that if you want to use commercial software, that
everyone is trying to make a buck (eg $$) and there are always serial
numbers etc to remember so that you can install and re-install software,
etc.
I've joined in many email lists and discussion forums and yahoo groups, over
the years... and you just don't get support for M$ Windows like I'm getting
for Ubuntu (now).
Thanx again, Lisa.
Fond Regards,
Peter Eric (aka 'pew') WILLIAMS
