screen resolution

Hello Gordon, David and list members,

Something went awry with the list messages this morning.

I did not post anything about resolution difficulties.  That was David.

I have been trying to help him and suggested in the first instance exactly
what you had proposed, Gordon.

Unfortunately, the way Google mail is set up it is easy to press the reply
button and you end up off-list and that is what happened in this instance.

David has not yet resolved his display difficulties.  The nvidia-glx-new
file had not been installed.  That has been rectified.  There are still no
choices to change resolution.

David, try      sudo displayconfig-gtk    and see if you can change
resolution in that screen....and can you tell me which kernel you are
booting from .... type     uname -r

If anyone else has any ideas, please join in.
