124.171.***.*** is the I.P address assigned to my general connection so
yes, that address reaches the router first. Within the router config
I've exposed my file server's internal I.P address in what the router
calls the 'demilitarised zone'. Basically, any ports I open in the
router get forwarded to the file server. I've got port 22 open.
I'm assuming that the file server is sufficiently exposed as Shields Up
report it's host-name and that port 22 is open.
