There's a free alternative to OpenDNS.  I use this "ad free" DNS
resolver server:
http://www.ifirefly.com

Anyway, I agree about BIND.  You may not need the name hosting part of
BIND, just the name resolver part.  I don't know anything about
configuring BIND though.
