A driver installed via envy should only break when a package that it
depends on is updated. So every time you update the kernel, you will
have to re-run envy. This should not happen too often. If you forgo envy
and use nvidia-glx-new (or -legacy) you should not have this problem,
but it looks like they were not working for you. Hope this helps and
doesn't add to the confusion!
