netcomm v300 & ubuntu

Hi,

On a previous post I related how I could only gain limited Internet 
access with a Ubuntu/Netcomm V300/D-Link 502T configuration. I have 
finally got it up and running (the day after I put my order in for a 
brand new Billion unit). The problem seemed to be in Ubuntu itself 
relating to having to disable the tcp window scaling. What that does or 
doesn't do is beyond my comprehension, nevertheless I have posted the 
solution here if anyone needs help with the same problem in future.
