Network problems

The adsl modem works ok with other machines. It connects to this machine which has XP on it (this is a dual boot machine, ubuntu is also on it), works fine with another machine with win98 and also
worked fine with an old P3 machine with Ubuntu 6.06 on it.
 
The etho connection is using DCHP.
