multifunctional printer part 2

Thanks to all the responses re buying a cheap multifunction printer
suitable for Ubuntu. I went ahead and purchased a Brother DCP-130C,
though the majority of responses tended to lean towards HP, I went with
the Brother model as it had separate ink cartridges.
The install of the Printer driver went relatively easy, took two
attempts after following the directions on the Brother web site. Getting
the scanner to work though took me over 6 hours, mainly due to my
incompetence regarding using the Terminal, incorrect instructions on the
Brother site re scanner install and differing methods of instructions on
the Ubuntu forums which confused me. Methods for installation tend to
differ between Ubuntu releases as well as 32 and 64 bit systems. One
can't claim the Brother DCP-130C works out of the box Ubuntu wise but at
the end of the day I now have the both the printer and scanner working
satisfactory and I am also a little wiser in the use of the terminal. I
have made up my own how to regarding the scanner install on a 32 bit
system with Feisty if anyone has a need for it.

Cheers
Todd
