Printer help please.

I know that this has been covered a number of times but I still can't get my
canon ip1000 printer to work through kubuntu 6.10. I am currently trying to
access my windoze xp printer. I installed the linux drivers from the canon
site but still failed. I have tried several things posted on this site, but
still failed. I send a job to the printer...the computer says all is
done...but the printer does nothing.

I am currently trying to give windoze the flick so my wife is the only one
to use it. I love tux...if I could get my printer going.

Any help would be appreciated.
