Dear fellow members,

Excuse my ignorance, not sure how to address list members. May I wish 
you all a Happy New Year.

Having just signed up and  been accepted, I have some questions. Being a 
newbie (or is it noobie), may I ask how to install my old HP 
Deskjet970cxi. I could not find a driver for Xubuntu, but I manage to 
get the contencts of the WinXp install  CD in Xubuntu, but what do I 
need to install this or does the Winxp program need somehow converting 
into linux language. Also I got Thunderbird email ready to go, but it 
won't connect, However, Firefox 2.0 works fine.

There are heaps more questions, but no doubt I guess there is a website 
somewhere to consult.
I don't want to be a pest, to you guys/gals.

Oh yes, I live in a northern Brisbane suburb, are there any Ubuntu 
people there?
