Whatever happened to the mailouts?

It's been a while and I haven't heard anything about the mailouts.
Does anyone know what happened to them? There were suggestions that we
charge a small fee, say the price of postage, or that we start an
online shop where people can pay by PayPal and have someone mail it to
them. I'd be happy to set up such an online shop, I have basic
experience with web development and PayPal integration, but I haven't
heard about the matter recently. Also, did anyone ever apply for the
Linux Australia grant?
