Something happened to me with a wine installation recently. Wine looks
for its fonts in the standard Linux place
(/usr/share/fonts/so/on/and/so/forth/) but sometimes the windows
program installs fonts in the windows font directory. This leads to
some weird effects. Put the font into the proper Linux directory and
this may clear up the problem. You will need to delete them from the
windows font directory as well. Ubuntu wine hides the windows
font directory in your home folder under .wine/drive_c/windows/fonts.
