using linux based ftp for file transfer

gftp is what I use, however if you do use it, be aware that it will 
choke out if you try to upload too many files at once. I think I tried 
every ftp GUI client I could find and ended up coming back to gftp.

There was an alright ftp extension for firefox too. FireFTP. It was 
okish last time I tried it. Perhaps it has improved now?
