If you are going to try this out, to get you started, I have use the
CF images available from Yawarra for their router boards..

It is Debian based, and I found it very easy to add additional
software though apt-get.

While I haven't tried it out, it should also be possible to upgrade it
to a Ubuntu release and install a Xubuntu desktop.

I found this approach very easy.
