Changing the power down sequence.

I would like to see what happens when you go power down ubuntu to be 
configurable.

At the moment when you click on the shutdown icon or press the power 
button you get a little window asking what to do.  ok fine.

What I would like to be able to do is configure what options appear 
when you click on the icon, and what action to take when you press the 
power button.

It would be handy if I could configure the power button just to 
shutdown the computer without any further delay.  I know other people 
wouldn't want this to happen.

Does anyone else think this is a good idea?

I would need some help on finding how to make this change etc.
