I used the ubuntu disc that was sent to me.Yes I did register a user name
but that does not work.I even tried my email address.I did notice when I ran
ubuntu memtest 86+ the following was detected"4294699.100000 IPv6 over IPv4
tunnelingdriver (fail)" don't know what this means.

Graham,

When you were installing ubuntu (assuming this is the install version)
you would have entered details about a 'user', such as name, username
and password.  Try using those.
