The interface should be nothing other than a container for what you're working on. A pretty container, yes (visions of Apple iPod and Macbook retail boxes), but a container nonetheless. We do not need to draw additional attention to the minimize/maximize/close because at this point who doesn't know where those buttons are or what they do? Even Apple's stupid and inane color-coded (or non-color-coded if you're using the 'graphite scheme) system of identical spheres of hard candy never proves to be a usability impediment. I'm not suggesting we make them as undifferentiated as that, because that's just silly. In my opinion, the closer we can get to Adobe Lightroom or Apple Aperture (within reason) as far as 'content over interface' the better.
