Here's an example of wallpaper which requires "scale" mode:

So I'm not going to implement that, but would accept a branch to merge

I don't know Python but I already implemented "zoom", "scaled" and
"stretched" modes in Plymouth script, so probably I'll be able to write
something working, but I think it would be easier for you to write it from
scratch than to fix my code. Anyway, I'll try if I get some spare time.
