Hi Martin,
Thanks for the link, didn't realise it was as open as that, I've been using Xara for as long as I've been on Ubuntu but have recently switched to Inkscape as Xara is loosing momemtum. I will definitely put up any posters I do.

Hey Raymond,
OK so there are no set requirements, but there are some good guidelines
and examples:
http://spreadubuntu.org/en/get-materials?field_media_value_many_to_one=Poster&field_purpose_value_many_to_one=All&field_derivative_value_many_to_one=All&field_version_value_many_to_one=All
You can download the sources to a lot of those posters and simply edit
them for your own use and redesign elements if you like. I like using
svg as it's the most flexible source format but it's up to you if you
like using Inkscape.
Once you've completed your poster, please do post it to spread ubuntu to
share the work. Also making sure to post your sources.
