In my opinion the current icon (

Actually, the more I look at it, the more I like it, but the first
impression is dreadful. The logos proposed in this thread might me not
enough symbolic. I'd prefer a simple and symbolic logo, like the one Ubuntu
has now. A fierce competition between Unity and GNOME Shell will start very
soon and a good logo will positively influence Unity adoption.
