I was thinking the same thing and was reviewing the guide when your email
arrived. ;-)  As I  share your concern with the "handbag" graphic I would
search for other metaphors or associations.

According the Dictionary.com accessory is defined as:

a subordinate or supplementary part, object, or the like, used mainly for
> convenience, attractiveness, safety, etc., as a spotlight on an automobile
> or a lens cover on a camera.

Perhaps thinking of "improvement" will lead to good metaphors.
