I'm sorry, but if I understand you correctly, that is unfortunately not 
possible. The PNG must have a black background and also the text must be 
displayed on a black background.

The reason behind this is that a lot of TFT screens fill the entire screen 
area with the text-background color (say, gray) and a black PNG looks kind of 
awkward on top of that.

I've been there and I'd rather save you from being publicly ridiculed :-)
