You have been subscribed to a public bug by Athos Ribeiro (athos-ribeiro):
It has been replaced with postgresql-16. Please, remove all
postgresql-15 binaries and source from noble.
Reverse dependencies analysis:
Here, we list all reverse dependencies and all reverse build
dependencies for postgresql-15. since it provides packages such as
libpq5 and libpq-dev, there are several packages listing dependencies on
that one (FWIW, there was no SONAME bump here).
Then, we are also listing all those reverse dependencies and reverse
build dependencies for postgresql-16 and comparing the files. Finally,
we can analyze the entries that are only present for postgresql-15.
$ reverse-depends src:postgresql-15 > /tmp/pg15
$ reverse-depends -b src:postgresql-15 >> /tmp/pg15
$ reverse-depends src:postgresql-16 > /tmp/pg16
$ reverse-depends -b src:postgresql-16 >> /tmp/pg16
$ diff -u /tmp/pg15 /tmp/pg16 | grep '^-'
--- /tmp/pg15 2023-11-28 09:35:28.204114805 -0300
-* postgresql-15-rdkit [amd64 arm64 armhf ppc64el s390x]
-* postgresql-16 (for libpq5)
-* postgresql-client-16 (for libpq5)
-* postgresql-server-dev-16 (for libpq-dev)
The last three packages (postgresql-*-16) are built from postgresql-16
and can be ignored.
postgresql-15-rdkit is built from rdkit, which was failing to migrate
due to s390x and endianess issues during autopkgtest. Once it migrates,
we will have postgresql-16-rdkit in the release pocket and
postgresql-15-rdkit will be NBS in the release pocket. Once it is
removed, it should be safe to remove postgresql-15 from noble as well.
** Affects: postgresql-15 (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
