You have been subscribed to a public bug by Brian Murray (brian-murray):
Binary package hint: runit-run
This package installs its own version of /sbin/init using dpkg-divert,
and its own version of man 8 init.
Currently on natty it fails to install without a debconf frontend:
Selecting previously deselected package fgetty.
(Reading database ... 14526 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking fgetty (from .../fgetty_0.6-5build1_amd64.deb) ...
Selecting previously deselected package runit.

dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/runit-run_1.1.2_amd64.deb (--unpack):
subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/runit-run_1.1.2_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
It was removed from Debian due to this bug:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=562945
In general there should be nothing wrong with this package installing
without doing the dpkg-divert until the user has had time to configure
the system to boot properly. So that could be fixed.
However, if the package has been removed from Debian, without a
maintainer in Ubuntu, it should probably be removed from Ubuntu as well.
