Actual package is not in sync with libelementary, and is not buildable.

Package from Debian builds fine (see attached log) and installs fine:

To test that the package was working correctly, I did the following test:
Python 2.6.6 (r266:84292, Sep 15 2010, 16:22:56) 
[GCC 4.4.5] on linux2
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.

this package don't have any rdepends, so it's safe to sync.
