Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:

Debian has fixed ftbfs with gcc 4.4 hence can be synced

Changelog since current maverick version 1.2-14ubuntu1:

exult (1.2-15) unstable; urgency=low

  * Standards-Version bumped to 3.8.4, no changes required.
  * Fix build failure with GCC 4.4, thanks to SevenMachines. (Closes: #563226)
