Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:

Debian has incorporated all the changes in sync with ubuntu.So the 
package can be synced safely.

Changelog since current jaunty version 2.16.4-1.1ubuntu1:

tau (2.16.4-1.2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Non-maintainer upload.
  * debian/rules: explicitly set -arch parameter with configure, some
    architectures are not recognised properly (Closes: #458874, #476638).
