It is broken on a default install, since it's first release in Feisty, and not been updated since
It's functionality has been replaced by other packages (likewise-open, likewise-open-gui, ldap-auth-client, etc)

Summary: It's been superseded, it never worked out of the box, and it's
not being developed

authtool's only reverse dependency is authtool-gtk
authtool-gtk has no reverse dependences
