Would you mind sharing how you managed to build kdar 2.1.0 from source?
I ran into the following:

sudo apt-get install libdar3c2a libdar-dev
tar -xvf kdar-2.1.0.tar.gz
cd kdar-2.1.0
./configure --enable-largefile
... then it eventually stopped at:
checking for libdar... configure: error: required library not found. Please install libdar.
