You have been subscribed to a public bug by Sarah Hobbs (hobbsee):
compiz-bcop was packaged for Ubuntu Gutsy, but since Hardy, the same
application has been packaged by Debian under the name compiz-fusion-
bcop and imported to the Ubuntu repositories. These packages offer
exactly the same application. Attempting to install both results in an
error/crash. compiz-bcop should be removed from the Ubuntu repositories.
Users appear to be installing all compiz* packages at once, triggering
the clash between these two almost identical packages. This makes this
bug high priority simply due to the frequency at which the problem is
encountered.
WORKAROUND:
Don't install compiz-bcop. Use compiz-fusion-bcop instead.
SOLUTION:
Remove compiz-bcop from the Ubuntu repositories.
