Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
The only ubuntu change is 'Fix bashisms', and this is fixed in debian

Changelog since current hardy version 1.1.1-8ubuntu1:

crystalcursors (1.1.1-9) unstable; urgency=low

  * Applied ubuntu patch to fix FTBFS with dash (Closes: #459053)
  * Bumped standards version
