Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
The bashisms in debian/rules have been removes in Debian. Debian has also added a .desktop file and an icon.

sopwith (1.7.1-4) unstable; urgency=low

  * QA upload
    + Change maintainer to QA group
  * Incorporate Ubuntu patch, adds .desktop file and
    icon. Patch by Leslie Viljoen with an improvement
    by Daniel Dickinson. (Closes: #478935, #479989)
  * Move homepage from Description to dedicated field
  * Add watch file
  * Remove unneeded dpatch dependency
  * Add the actual copyright statements in debian/copyright
  * Adapt menu file to current menu policy
