This patch:

Breaks the one functionality I use qiv for: to set my root background.
(I do not use most gnome functionality, just the bare sawfish window
manager).

The main problem they were trying to work around  in #351816. was this: 
> After setting X background with options "-x", "-y" or "-z", qiv exits
> but leaves a connection to the X server opened.

However, I have *never* seen this happen my my system and I would often
change the background. This workaround reduces significant functionality
without fixing the actual problem.

Please add the command line options back so I can set my root background.
