As previously mentioned by Pascal, this package is obsolete, and does
not contribute to a good user experience.  It should be removed in
preference to nvidia-glx.

  If I try to install nvidia-settings in Edgy is says it must remove
  nvidia-glx.
  
  It seems I allready has the nvidia-settings application but the nvidia-
  settings package also provide the libNVctrl application for GPU temp
  monitoring. This application is missing for me now.
