Please sync gem (universe) from Debian unstable (main).

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
The Ubuntu changes are to replace xlibs-static-dev with a bunch of x11proto-* packages, along with linux-kernel-headers -> linux-libc-dev in the Build-Depends. A patch was added to fix a FTBFS on amd64. None of these changes are required any more, the current package builds and installs fine in a amd64 Gutsy chroot.

gem (1:0.90.0.1-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Dropped kernel-headers build dependency (closes: 432546) (closes: 433276)
  * removed build dep on xlibs-static-dev (closes: 421560)
