Well, firestarter is universe, and from all the times I've tried to
inquiry about security updates for universe packages (clamav for
example), I walk away with the impression that nobody really cares.

I figure it's better to have a temporary workaround (backports) that
would at least make an updated package available to users in some
fashion than nothing at all.
