Ok to overwrite Ubuntu changes. The Ubuntu delta originates from compiling for Python 2.4:

  * Rebuild for python2.4

Subsequent changes in Ubuntu versions (all merges), have all been subsumed due to the new Debian version using the new Python policy and removal of configure in the clean target:
