Disculpen que me conteste solo, pero resulta que pude resolverlo, y le 
va a servir a Rodolfo y algún otro con el mismo problema.
Primero, eliminamos la carpeta gwibber dentro del $HOME/.config
Y luego sudo dpkg-reconfigure gwibber
Con esto la aplicación se inicia, obviamente sin ninguna cuenta asociada.
