[Ubuntu-AE] membership at LP/~ubuntu-ae

Hi All 
I have registered for
membership at "https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-ae"  for
months, using my yahoo id and gmail id, my membership was not
approved.
Can I know the reason why some linux users membership
was waiting for moderators approval for such a long time. Is this
with the correct spirit of Open Source
Till few days back in the home page, information was there that by request is pending, now when I checked even membership pending information is gone.
Why this behaviour and attitude

Is it a closed group, where
it has any other hidden aim and objective
