Thank you Luke for the information. It gives me hope for my projects
using the LTS 16.04. For now I have to figure out about the Compiz
settings for to try out. Do you mean Compiz with the GNOME shell?magnifier

GNOME Shell 3.16 will be in Wily, due for release in October, and I am pretty sure that has cursor/textt tracking. Its also in vivid's GNOME shell 3.14, but I am not sure whether 3.16 has improvements in that area or not, so it will need investigation.
