Libreoffice question

This may be slightly off topic but...

When ever I bring up a .docx file in libreoffice if I try to save that 
document as a docx again it looses a lot of content.  I brought up a 
document today that was 513k before I opened it, did nothing to it, saved 
it again, and it was 16k.  I am using Ubuntu 14.04.3 lts.  Has anyone else 
seen this behavior and do you know of a solution?
