ubuntu gnome 14.04 question

hi i just installed ubuntu gnome 14.04
i’m new to linux 
i had speech during the whole install but after restarting when the installation was done no speech
i tried ctrl s but no luck
i know if i ctrl tab there’s the top bar 
i know screenreader isn’t checked
i forgot how many times to go over and down
and how many times to ctrl tab to the top bar
