accessible weather and radio apps

So the radio-tray indicater does not have accessibility/usability issues now in 12.04-precise? 
I tried this before, I think on Lucid anddon't remember anything accept that it seemed to be useless with orca. Perhaps the change from an old style applet to an indicator has made things work differently, or Orrca improvements have made the difference. 
Thanks for any thoughts, tips, or tricks for using this. 
What does it do that is better than just using a media player to play streams.
