New to ubuntu - some problems/questions

How did you configure this? 
I uncommented the start line from /etc/init/pulseaudio.conf 
However, got no sound on my next reboot. I'm guessing because the GUI is
still trying to start its own pulseaudio daemon - couldn't figure out
how to stop this.
