changing default time ubuntu prompts for password when computer sitting idle?

Which version of Ubuntu are you running?

In Ubuntu 12.04, it looks like you can do this by hitting alt+f1 and
arrowing down to system settings. Arrow over to and press enter on
brightness and lock and you'll end up in a dialog where you can set how
long before the screen saver comes up.
