Sound in Ubuntu 9.10

Hey People

I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 on a Notebook today. When I booted with  the
Accessibility profile 3 Orca did not speach. When I booted Orca normaly, I
could open Orca with the run Dialog. So, I installed the System from the
System Menu. But I noticed the same Problems with the System sounds. As I am
new to Linux I would be very greatfull to have some Help.
